As if being a regular contributor to the Morning Joe weekday program isn’t proof enough that John Heilemann is a liberal Democrat, the MSNBC analyst did his best to leave no doubt where he stands politically during an interview on Wednesday.
After slamming President Trump’s executive order to prevent children from being taken away from families after illegally crossing the Mexican border into the U.S., the national affairs analyst stated: “We have a great chance” to inflict “a political price” on “him and his party” during the mid-term elections in November.
Heilemann made the comment during an interview conducted by Nicolle Wallace in her afternoon MSNBC program Deadline: White House after criticizing Trump for trying to be “a hero” by using the word “compassion” while responding to the situation, but “he can’t actually express compassion.”
He then asserted:
It is our job in the press and also the job of Democrats to not let the president have it both ways on this issue and to make sure that he can’t be both. You can’t just do this thing and then stand up and say, “Oh, hey, I’m now the hero, I have compassion.” Huh-uh, you can’t go around talking about people like they’re vermin, you can’t inflict this kind of policy on Americans and not pay a political price. We have a great chance to inflict one on him and his party in November.
