On Thursday evening, August 9, a friend tipped me to an emergency hour long video that Alex Jones streamed live from his Infowars studios in Austin, Texas from 7-8 PM CDT. I didn’t see it live but shortly after it streamed, I watched the podcast.
As has been reported all week, widely around the Internet and here at the Hagmann Report, Jones has never been more “at the tip of the spear” than right now. With the political situation in the country becoming more polarized and alarming by the day, Jones is finding himself at the center of the action. On Monday, he and all of his thousands of Infowars videos were suddenly and in a peremptory fashion banned and removed from YouTube – one of his primary means of reaching his millions of online viewers and followers. Almost immediately, social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Apple (including iTunes) followed suit and banned him, removing all of his and his regular contributors’ content.
In a flash, Alex Jones and Infowars were erased from much of the Internet. Gone! With no hope of appeal.
The news was so big that even the mainstream media couldn’t ignore it. Predictably, most of them piled on, suggesting in their twisted reporting that censoring and confining Jones and his content to the Memory Hole (credit for the term goes to George Orwell’s prophetic dystopian novel 1984) was a necessary and good thing for the preservation of “democracy” (the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution be damned).
All week, Jones and his associates continued to produce and stream their programming hosted on Infowars’ own servers, without the benefits of any simultaneous streaming or program archiving at YouTube, Facebook, Apple, etc.
By Thursday, however, other insidious factors of censorship and covert steps being taken to shut down a legal business were coming into play and the repression was deepening, including impairing Jones’ ability to conduct commercial transactions even at his own sites.
On Thursday August 9, Jones employed a live stream at Periscope to present an hour long spontaneous, unscripted update on the latest events. The title of the broadcast was ominous: “Emergency Alert: Democrats Testing Internet Kill Switch on Infowars / Site Nearing Collapse.”
Among the references cited was a tweet by Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) who was one of the first politicians to pile on Jones on Monday when Murphy tweeted “Infowars is the tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies that uses sites like Facebook and YouTube to tear our nation apart. These companies must do more than take down one website. The survival of our democracy depends on it.”
The implications of Murphy’s authoritarian tweet, which advocates suppression of freedom of speech on the Internet and a de facto shredding of the U.S. Constitution (which Murphy took an oath to uphold when he was sworn in as a U.S. Senator), are ominous.
Even before this brouhaha, on July 30, Reason published a story “Senate Democrats Are Circulating Plans for Government Takeover of the Internet” which is essential and chilling reading to better understand what is going on, and what the Democrat/Socialists are planning.
The purpose of this brief article is to encourage people to watch the Alex Jones August 9th emergency video. Once again, here is the link to stream it.
