Freedom of speech is a fundamental right in our society but the same rules don’t seem to apply to the internet.  The internet has been a great tool to share information as new people and platforms sprung up to make up what we now call the alternate media. No longer are these cable and print media monopolies able to control the story.  This presents a dilemma in the Main Stream, not only in a loss of influence but most importantly they are losing the battle for the minds of the public.

Since the 2016 Presidential election and the populist uprising of President Donald Trump the media and establishment elite have lost their collective minds.  They have lost the public relations battle and the people are no longer buying their communist narrative.  The media and political establishment have been attacking President Trump relentlessly with slander and lies which have been identified as fake news.

CNN and other main stream media outlets are actively wielding their influence to shut down alternative media platforms as well as attacking their sponsors.   CNN continues to lecture us on the dangers of fake news and conspiracy theories yet they and other MSM outlets are the biggest proponents of these behaviors.  For the last year and a half CNN has been pushing a false Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy theory without one shred of proof yet pretends to the moral authority on truth.  Yet CNN has been actively lobbying to have Youtube remove the Alex Jones channel.

Infowars reports – Having lost the political argument, the legacy media is now turning to censorship in an attempt to silence alternative and competing voices.

The MSM can’t stand when people attack their credibility, they say an attack on their reporting is equivalent to an attack on the first amendment.  Its no wonder President Trump held the first annual 2017 Fake News Awards.

The MSM doesn’t take kindly to being called for what they are, fake news and now they are pushing back with censorship.  With the loss of relevance and the surge in people seeking news through alternative sources the media and tech companies are now silencing their opponents.  What content are they looking to ban?  Any controversial content is ripe for censorship.  Any Christian speech, any pro-Trump language, any truth which counters their globalist propaganda.

How are they censoring the alternative media and how will they continue moving forward?  Twitter and Facebook use algorithims and human moderators search for key words and phrases to use as reasons to ban or suspend user accounts.  In Europe they have enacted hate speech laws to criminally prosecute speech that is deemed offensive. Youtube has hired 10,000’s of people to help crack down on news and information that is counter to their facts.

The “anti-hate” Hate group The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) along with the Anti-Defamation League have been hired by Youtube to identify hate speech.  This presents several problems as we don’t have a clear definition of what hate speech is or what speech is too controversial for viewers.  The problem is not hate speech but rather any content which counters their narrative.

According to the Daily Caller“The left-wing nonprofit — which has more recently come under fire for labeling legitimate conservative organizations as “hate groups” — is one of the more than 100 nongovernment organizations (NGOs) and government agencies in YouTube’s “Trusted Flaggers” program, a source with knowledge of the arrangement told TheDC..  The SPLC and other program members help police YouTube for extremist content, ranging from so-called hate speech to terrorist recruiting videos.

All of the groups in the program have confidentiality agreements, a spokesperson for Google, YouTube’s parent company, previously told TheDC. A handful of YouTube’s “Trusted Flaggers,” including the Anti-Defamation League and No Hate Speech — a European organization focused on combatting intolerance — have gone public with their participation in the program. The vast majority of the groups in the program have remained hidden behind their confidentiality agreements.”

As we see from the article above they are fighting intolerance and bullying yet as we know these are just excuses to ban speech they don’t want the public to see.  This is just the very beginning of things to come but what are the next steps for internet censorship?

Internet service providers are the next area where the battles will be fought.  Imagine you have a web site full of content ready to publish online for all to see yet no company will accept your business. Is this the next step down the path to total internet control?  The Worse is yet to come.
